Summer Beauty Products,Plans, Reminisces + Shoes(+my music dreams)

Can you believe the summer is half over? I can't! I only just recently finished all my schoolwork from the year and would like an extra month, to enjoy the luxurious weather! However, I do have two months to revel without much academic responsibility, so I'm going to try to soak it all in before it's over. So far, my summer has been really exciting. It started with officially the BEST birthday ever and I'm just saying that because I turned 17:) I went out to a fancy Italian restaurant with my dad and good friend and we got all dressed up. And then we went to an awesome concert by our current favorite band, The Moxies. By the way, you should totally check out their music on youtube:) My personal favorite songs are "Night-Crawler", "Mainstream Drive-In", and " Just A Boy."

The amazing thing is the main singer, Marcus, wrote ALL, I repeat ALL the music and lyrics when he was just 14! To say they are talented would be somewhat of an understatement:) But my friend and I had loads of fun, especially since we got to party at a bar that usually only for 21 year old's:) There a mosh pit and we spent pretty much the whole night dancing and singing our hearts out. By the end of the night, we were exhausted and sweaty, but very happy and exhilarated as well.

After that, I decided to send lyrics to a song I wrote to a good friend of ours, who has a band. She wrote back that she was going to sit down and see if she could come up with a melody!! Needless to say, I was very excited about that. As an aspiring musician and songwriter, I'm trying in every possibly way to get my foot in the door. So, it was an encouraging to know that I might be able to collaborate with her in the future.

Right now, I'm trying to teach myself as many songs on the piano and possible, while attempting to sing them perfectly too. And I'm looking into how I could record and release an album independently. So, I think it's especially cool that we have so many music-inclined friends I can learn from and work with.

Finally, I wanted to share my go-to beauty products especially during the summer, but also all year long. I've been using this all for quite some time and they have kept my skin really soft and healthy for a long while. all of them are very affordable, but also note-worthy brands of good quality.

First off, my lovely Argon Oil Body Cream. This stuff not only heals and soothes cracked heels and dry skin, but also smells amazing! It can be found for $10.00 at any drugstore/Walmart/or Marshalls
Along with that, i'm including my favorite Coconut Quench body wash, from Soft-soap, and this AMAZING smelling pumpkin-scented lotion. This body wash is arguably the best-smeling one I've ever used and so gentle on my skin. And, if you know anything about me, you know I adore anything pumpkin-literally anything. So, when my mom presented me with this lotion for my birthday, I couldn't have been happier.
I mean come on, what's better than putting lotion on that makes your hands smell like pumpkin? really nothing, for a pumpkin lover like me.
Next in the spotlight is the DIY Coconut Sugar Scrub. I've been using this stuff for almost a year now,
and I don't think my skin has ever been softer! I use twice a week in the shower, all over my body, face, and feet. Rough, cracked heels? Use this! Dry, peeling skin? Use this! You will see dramatic results, just rubbing a bit on your hand and then rinsing it off in the sink.
Never underestimate the powers of sugar and oil to work beauty miracles. I know I did and now this is my go-to anytime I want to freshen up in the shower.
I don't think there's a more relaxing way to go to bed, then with your skin all fresh, clean, soft and good-smelling:) You can make your own version of this, as I do
with simply 1/2 cup sugar, 3 tbsp Olive or vegetable oil, and 2 tbsp honey.
For the coconut version, follow the recipe below or buy your own from your leading Target, Walmart, or a beauty/makeup store(link to one below)

  1. 1/4 cup granulated sugar (You can use up to 1/2 cup if you want your scrub to have a more coarse, sand-like texture.)
  2. 1/2 cup coconut oil (I use Trader Joe's organic virgin coconut oil.)
  3. Optional>> 1 tablespoon citrus fruit zest (The zest from one piece of fruit.) (
Then, I have my daily cleanser and moisturizer. I've been using these every day, for like forever, even before I first started wearing makeup. I think it's SO important to moisturize your skin each day, even if you're not putting loads of foundation and contour on it. This Neutrogena oil-free moisturizer with sunscreen is the perfect way to keep your skin soft and combat against sun and other harmful things you'll encounter. And the Aveeno foaming cleanser is perfect for evening out skin-tones and imperfections, as well as preventing acne.
You do want to be careful though, in choosing your cleanser and moisturizer. If you have oily skin, go for the one I use. If you have dry skin, go for one that's not goopy.
and I know that I already mentioned this next product in an early post. But I just can't help to bring it up again, for new readers to be introduced to this wonder! Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Tanning Lotion is what I have been using religiously four times a week. I can't get over how incredibly easy to apply this stuff is and it shows up instantly! No streaks, no problems, no orange, fake-looking tan whatsoever! After my frustrations with Loreal Paris's unsatisfactory tanning line, I was so relieved and glad to find a good-quality product. And it doesn't cost a fortune either:) If you detest your pale, white legs and thighs, then you need to use this stuff!
Personally, I think women are beautiful pale or tan, but I feel prettiest when my skin is dark.
You can use this stuff all over your body and face as well, an unexpected bonus! To even further it's use, it can be found at any Walmart Or Target near you for only $10!
If that's not the perfect deal, I don't know what is :) There's also separate airbrush face makeup that comes in a spray. I use this, whenever I'm being lazy about makeup, but want to cover up my imperfections and look somewhat presentable.

Finally, I have my go-to lipstick and mascara. I absolutely can not live without mascara. I feel certain, that if ever I was stranded somewhere without makeup, I could survive with these three products. Maybelline The Falsies Mascara is awesome, because it's gives the appearance of false eyelashes without the trouble of gluing them on. My eyelashes have always been particularly thin and never look full. So, when I found this I was thrilled! thanks to the makeup guide from the lovely Sophia Smith, I've now discovered the answer to my prayers:)
then there's my skyline-pink lipstick from Revlon. This is a good one to use when you're going for a smokey eye, or want to draw all the attention to a separate feature of your face. It's the lightest shade of pink there is and perfect for minimal makeup days during the summer.

And, at long last, I'm going to show you my go-to shoes during the summer. I've recently become very obsessed with shoes and have been collecting heels, boots, and sandals for quite some time. And I'm not ashamed to admit my collection continues to grow, like any girl's tends to.
I have some extremely comfortable Tommy Hilfiger sandals, with white and blue strips that I love. And I have a confession about these. I bought them, with out paying any attention to the brand( very embarrassing, huge mistake, I know!) and only recently noticed it on the front of the shoe! Naturally, I was thrilled to be wearing shoes by such a popular brand:)
Then, I have my lovely blue heels, which I found at a Payless shoe store near my house. I love how I can easily pull of a casual, but not too dressy look with these. They're ideal for a night out on the town or a concert/date night.
Then there's my orange and gold sandals, which a friend bought me for my birthday. These I wear almost non-stop, especially with my jean shorts.

Next, I have my black suede boots from Kohls. These were an idea gleaned from the Trend Pear and various other fashion websites. I love the design of the heel and how you can wear them in both winter and summer.
And, finally, there's my brown sandals with blue butterflies on them. These are actually surprisingly comfortable, despite their appearance, and I got them from another Payless shoe store at the Mall.

Well, now I'm going to say goodbye to all my lovely readers. I hope you have a wonderful day and rest of your summer. I'm sorry if I bored you by the length of this post, but I was trying to fit as much into it as I could.
